Default Lower debris deflector

Trying to replace the lower debris deflector plastic piece with a chrome one and discovered it to be more challenging than I originally thought. 1 of the 3 bolts was more than easy enough but the other 2 are in some very tricky places.

I tried using an extension on both but was unsuccessful as it was too wobbly and even if I were successful I would have one hell of a time trying to reinstall them

What’s the easiest way to get to these bolts? Remove the rear tire? And if that’s the case might as well put a chrome rear fender rock guard and a rear pulley cover?

I really appreciate all the help yall!

With enough finesse I probably could but the first pic is from the opposite side of the bike and across the whole frame, half way trying to do it I started thinking about how there’s no way what I was doing was the proper way. Even if I were to get them off that way, it’d be a tough job trying to get the bolts threaded again when reinstalling. I’m thinking I will have to take the rear wheel off for this job but was hoping there was an easier way

I was hoping to find a video specific to a Heritage, but I don't see any. There are some for Sportsters and Touring bikes that might be some help.

Is it this 60362-86B here https://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche...davidsonmc/177 ?

It's the same as mine on my '97, even though the part numbers are a bit different (mine being 60415-89C). It's not exactly 'easy' to get it off, but not as hard as you seem to be making it out to be. It probably means getting on ones back, which I'm pretty sure I did, to get to things sometimes and going into spots 'blind' and by feel. You really shouldn't need any special tools or go to the extreme of removing a wheel just to remove a deflector though!

thanks, I’ll try again, it was the end of the night and I had just got done removing the muffler and changing the transmission fluid so maybe I was just super tired
