I'm just looking to confirm how many degrees of timing each increment is on the above noted cam position sensor... I believe each mark is approximately 1.25 degrees and 2.5 degrees between each long marks.. With that said I'm pretty sure that 2.5 degrees advance on the CPS would actually be 5 degrees advance on the crank... Thanks..
Hotrod, what's messing ya up is looking at the distance moved on the outer circumference when the part(s) that make the spark happen are in a smaller circumference, in a smaller circle and don't have to be moved as far to make the same amount of change. (Timing cup / pickup on adjusting plate)
Look at the cup in the slot - that's where the actual (ign) degree change takes place It's a smaller circle than where the adjuster plate is marked, Moving a distance on the marks doesn't move as much distance closer to center.
Tie a string to the white star. Walk from one blue to the next one. Now walk from one yellow star to the other. Lots further, right. Same deal with the difference of the cam gear diameter and smaller diameter of the timing rotor.
