Default Brake Pedal Interchange?

Should a brake pedal from a newer bike bolt on to my 1997 Heritage softail? Would like to find one that lays down at more of an angle.

Thanks guys

Harley still hasn’t figured out brake pedal ergonomics, even on new bikes.

I changed brake pedals on ’20, and ’22 Glides, twice each, but am leaving it stock on my ’24 Police Road King because I just realized I might like it better being able to fit my big foot under the brake pedal.

Problem on the 97's, is there is no adjustment in the master cylinder plunger assembly 38, to adjust the pedal up or down in the first place for its at rest position up, to start with,

As for pedal pad itself to pedal arm bracket, should be able to swap pedal pads itself, and if going to a narrow pedal pad, may need to shorten the length of the pedal bracket arm top surface (what the pedal pad bolt to), so bolting surface of are fits the pad. If pad you want to go to is the same weight as now, then should bolt right up without any mods needed.

As for the stock pad, will slip right off once you get the pad to release from the Vs in the lever plate top , and them can bolt up a more fancy pad to the lever that uses the bolting system, or just go to another slip on type instead.

Fancy type that will bolt up, instead of slipping on. Same

Same for floor boards or pegs as well, and can either change the rubber pads to something fancier on the floor boards, or just upgrade the entire floor board to something more fancier instead.

And where I am pulling the diagrams for your bike,

Yes, no, maybe,
since some of the older bikes did have adjustment that you could make at the brake lever, to adjust the pedal up or down for its "at rest" position.

From a 91, where you can adjust the lever spines to arm bracket spines up or down a spine for at least a rough adjustment up or down a spine.

But will agree with you, that without some sort of adjustment linkage at the plunger rod, what come factory, is what your going to get; unless you change to an after market pedal lever instead.

Many parts interchange up to 1999.
I swapped out the pedal on my 1993 FLSTC. Got it at a swap meet for $10.oo -

Don’t know about the softails ,but on my 86FLT, I hated the pedal up too high. I was able to move the pedal down on the shaft spline.
