While changing handlebars...
I've met difficulty while changing handlebars.
My ride is 1991 softail.
Although being novice on electric field, I decided to change handlebars myself.
Currently, I'm running handlebars through which electric wires go to grips
First I dissembled the grip and found the space within too small to work.
Instead, I removed the gas tank to separate connectors.
Now I feel I' m in blind alley.
These kind of connectors are unfamiliar to me.
The isolated connectors are so big that they cannot pass through the handlebars
How I separate wires from this kind of connectors?
Thanks for any advice in advance.

Check service manual. Mine for a 2008 bike lists them all and where they are on the bike.
I made a drawing of connector #1
and connector #2 and where what wires went where.
Bought a wire extension kit for my bike, solder, heat shrink, a pin tool and new pins because I needed extensions anyway, I just cut tge wires leaving a little colored insulation for reference.
All told, with the extensions it cost me about $75.

The tool that works. There are others but very pricey for part time work. Push tool into connector end then push wire in as yopu push on tool. You will fee it come loose then pull wire out. Takes a little practice.
Don't forget to make a diagram/.list where what goes.
I ve just ordered Molex Power Connector Pin Remover.
and what a wise advice to make a diagram/.list.
Riding this machine is fun and challenge.

And all though I didn't look for them, I suspect the connectors would be hard to find.

The pin remover arrived and I'm trying to push the pins out.
But the pins feel stuck and would not move .
I'm cautious not to damage the pins.
I seek more advice from you in using this remover in detail.
You use thick side of this remover which can embrace the pins
or thin side which is as thick as pins?
