Default EVO vibes

Hello fellow classic riders, been a while since I've had anything to post about but I now have a few questions. I've been riding and constantly improving my 1988 FLHS since about 1995 and the last big mod I did was modify my swingarm by adding some bracing to help eliminate the " weave" and do a complete engine/chassis alignment. At the time I did the swingarm mods I replaced the worn cleave blocks with a spherical bearing kit and continued to use the old Glide Pro swingarm mounts and axle that were previously on the bike. The mods and more likely the spherical bearing kit did completely eliminate the weaving and the bike now handles great, very stable and tracks through sweepers with nary a wiggle. However since the mods the increase in vibration felt in the floorboards is quite a bit more, not intolerable but more than I'd like. THis winter I'm considering replacing the spherical bearing kit with something that will tame the vibes better but still provide more stable handling than the old cleave blocks. Looking for suggestions on what you've done to yours when replacing the weave blocks. Thanks, Mike

Hmmm, my experience of this is twofold....1: An Evo that is buttoned up tight so as not to weave often vibrates more...2: Shimming that front motor mount so these is an air gap at the top of the rubber, can reduce vibes quite a bit.

Thanks Spanners, that's definitely something I will look at. After I did all the work I did notice my engine wasn't moving in the frame at idle like it used to, stays pretty much stationary. I'm trying ( without actually looking at the mount at the moment) to picture just how and where to shim it. Since the engine rests on top of the mount, where do you shim? TIA

Ignore that, it only works on Dynas...

No help on the bike issue but you reminded me about the Museum at Millville, I've put that on my ride list for the next warm weather. I used to fly out of south Jersey quite a bit, The Flying W has a collection of war birds and is worth a visit...
