Alright guys bear with me as I try to assemble my motor Im going to have questions. I pressed the stock N cam gear onto my Andrews EV46, when I install it to check endplay with the round Evo washer it needs to be shimmed a lot. What Ive read is I need the old 25550-57 winged cam lock washer and then use shims? Is this the correct way of doing this?
Yes, also you'll probably need the .050" shim.. Use the old cam cover gasket to set the end play.. .010"-.015" would be perfect.. It's in their instructions..

The factory cams after '91 are .050 longer than previous years. Aftermarket cams are built on the earlier pattern so you need .050 just to make up for cam difference from the start, plus whatever else it needs. The late cams say .050 clearance is OK but most like it to be less than half that much.
The winged washer is heavy and guessing, about .100 Part # 25550-57A. Still available from HD about. $26.00
Even using the old cam gear, it'll throw off you timing a small bit so may need to check it with a light when done.
