I've been using the disposable ones too. In the last several years disposables have gone from 6 to almost 20 bucks in my area, if you get from the local dealers. I'm looking at long term. How many more oil changes will I do on thins bike? I like the idea of a reusable oil filter if I knew that I would be putting at least 100k miles on the bike.
I know an excellent mechanic who builds really high end motors that loves them. I just dont want to spend the time and mess cleaning. I do cut my filter disposables open every other oil change and look inside but still less mess I assume then cleaning the reusable.

I have now switched to reusable. I am using the "FLO" brand. I paid $134. Yes, at least 10 K&N filters. The advantages are the reusable has a smaller mesh for screening out more. The finned aluminum outer case helps to cool the oil better. AND THE BIGGEST REASON IS LESS MESS. Look at other threads about oil filters and how to prevent or minimize leaks. The fancy orange HD oil catch....doesn't work for me. I've seen people use aluminum foil, rags or cardboard. I have been using puppy potty pads. Those work the best but STILL have oil leaking.
The FLO brand has a removable inner filter that can be taken out and cleaned out.
Yes, I think the reusable are a better option.
Availble in all black, all chrome or black & chrome.
