Well after a very rough winter for me. I finally got feeling well enough to finally tear into it. Found a few minor things i may have done wrong. Mostly the gaskets between the rocker boxes. One was twisted but wasn’t leaking there.

Pulled the rockers back off and inspected them to find some wear but not much. I did install the lockers. To just see if it quiets things down.

The front umbrella valve the “off brand” ones. It was totally dislodged. The rear wasn’t too far behind it.

One member I’ve chatted with off site said to check the oil passage from the top of the pushrod and flush it out really well. And to my surprise 3 out of 4 were plugged pretty well. One had a bunch of trash I’m hoping was from the prior setup. It was some waste looking stuff. So maybe with more oil going thru it will quiet things down. I did check the shaft and it didn’t look bad. No scarring and the bushings looked good. And the end play felt normal.

as per another recommendation I dropped the rev limiter down to 6k RPM from the 6500 where Hammer said to run it. Left Curve 3 on and turned the Voes back on as it definitely ran better with the Voes controlling retard.

Motors back together. Time to clean the bike up from sitting in the shop since Thanksgiving.

Still need to get a new front motor mount. Glide Pro customer service sucks. Won’t respond to an email and won’t return a phone call. Only response was if it is more than 3 years old replace it. When all my question was is how much space between the. Bottom washer and the lower bushing should be there? I’ve got a 1/2 inch gap. So I’ll probably find someone else’s mount.

Still need to flush the brakes and deal with the slow hose from the remote reservoir to the master cylinder.

Thanks everyone. Been a rough few months health wise. But I’m back on the upward trend long as this new medication continues to help.

Glad you feel better.

Cleaning the pushrod and rocker arm oil passages shouldn't be overlooked, same as all other engine internals and passages.
Anyway, I like to do the oil system prime before installing the rocker covers, might get a little messy on Evo's, but I like to see the oil making it all the way out the rockers before first start.

I just used a Drag Specialties heavy duty front mount (0933-0135) and their isolators on a RK, it worked out pretty good.
Don't know the longevity yet, but suspect it'll be ok.
I tried a Glide Pro front mount years ago, didn't last.

Thanks @Schex it was not a fun few months. Thankfully on a new regiment for pain control. Allowing me to focus. And oddly it seems like my days are longer. It’s amazing how much I’ve missed being stuck on a certain nasty pain med and finding out how it was no longer working being switched to a new one that actually works. Heck I smoked a pork tenderloin last night and my mind was blown. My sense of taste is coming back, something I blamed on my genetic condition was actually the pain meds interfering. Looking forward to detoxing more and getting my life back and not just sleeping.

I had a Drag Mount on a prior bike and it’s definitely a firmer setup. But I agree on the Glide Pro. It’s pretty soft and can see why they recommend replacing it every 3-5 years or 10k miles.

Finally saw an install video and once it was installed had a very minimal gap under the mount to the bushing. I’ve got 1/4” between the washer and bush. So that’s probably the funky feeling when I get on it. The motor raising up in the front mount.

Talked to Glide Pro this morning and he also said yeah it’s toast. Just want something decent that won’t transfer all the vibration to the bike. I did replace the rear mounts in the swingarm with Drag Specialties kit, they were all hollowed out. And eliminated the cow tailing I was feeling pushing it in corners.

But the hard part right now is trying to get the King done for some pavement adventures this year. And also just traded bike 2 in on a brand new Adventure Touring 650. A Moto Morini X-Cape. lol the BMW was a nice bike but a most uncomfortable bike and suspension was pretty bad. Pounded me very harshly. The X Cape just has a ton of modern tech and lots of name brand components and so far (200 miles) it’s going to be used for off road, time to see what’s around where I live off road.

Bikes back together. Just waiting on my front engine mount. Should have been delivered today but it got hung up in Seattle. That and bleeding the front brakes.

I used a Phoenix Injector to bleed the rear brake. So much easier. And at some point I felt a bit of pressure and then a smooth release. And low and behold some junk was forced into the reservoir.

Can't do the fronts on the lift with the bars I have. So I'll get that done when it gets rolled off.

Gotta get it off the lift. Old man found this old. 1977 FL Shovelhead Electra Glide Sport. The great grand pappy to my 1998 King that left the factory as an Electra Glide Classic.

30 thousand some miles or so on the spedo anyway. Waiting on a set of points to see if it will fire up. Came out of the Tacoma Area.

Thing is,. pushing this thing around, this thing is tiny. It's like pushing a sportster around compared to my 98.

More to come on tbr old shovel.

Still waiting on my front mount. Still sitting in Seattle. Hopefully tomorrow.

Made the decision today to retire my old timer cver that's been with me since my first Harley nearly 25 years ago. My original Eagle Iron Ride To Live, Live to ride has seen some better days. The holes are pretty hogged out so the screws barely hold it in place now. So I dug out the V2 cover. Polished it up. Cave it a few coats of clear and wet sanded it a bit. I'll eventually find a cover that fits the bike. Some of the custom ones are just insane money.

Even still had a couple of the correct rivets. Lol

I think we can safely close this thread. Bikes back together, runs better. Top ends far quieter. I mean far quieter. Whether it was the plugged oil passage, the rocker lockers, or the Oem umbrella valves. It’s made a major difference.

Been riding my nimble 650 too much. I forgot how much of a pig the bike was. lol. Took me a few miles to shake off the cobwebs. But made a short run out the county highway, and jumped an exit on the freeway. It was too cold to go much further with what I was wearing.

if I have one issue remaining. It still acts like it’s a bit starved for fuel past 75. I didn’t crack the fuel cap thou. I will next time. But I did finally track down a local that I’ve ran into before and he said to drop a 190 in and maybe even a 195. 180s just too lean. So those are in order with a different shop this time. Hopefully get the right ones. He also recommended shimming the needle even though it’s the N65C. So I’ve got my old shim kit at the ready. Thankfully I swapped everything on the carb to Allen’s so I can pretty much do it all on the bike, just have to lift the tank a bit.

So I should hopefully now be good to go for a good while. Hopefully nice this weekend and I can clean all the oil residue off the jugs from the leak.

was told not to use brake clean, as it leaves a residue but to use acetone and a grey scotch pad. (Bare jugs) so I’ve got both so will see. I haven’t been too impressed with how I got them back from Hammer. They went too kind with the soda blast and left a lot of old gunk.

thanks again everyone.

It it's only oil residue then you can just use a heavy concentrate of Dawn dish liquid and a stiff paint brush.. Does the job niccely..

Thanks. The extra strength Dawn and some elbow grease took it off like crazy. A bit of a mess under the bike when I got done cleaning and rinsing it all off. Next time I’ll do it outside with a hose. lol.

but it’s all cleaned up again. And tossed a cover over it for now to keep it clean.

Previous owner was one of those detail after every ride so it was pretty clean when I got it. He also replaced a part of it looked dirty or showed any sign of rust. And I just continue it. 5 hours today of cleaning and polishing and a wax job.
