Thought it would be clear to anyone that doesn't live in Mayberry.

Yeah I have read that in here before, I guess it's pretty common.
I have just always locked things that will lock.
It's just a habit like yours I guess.
Mine probably more of an OCD thing, you wouldn't believe how I lock it up through the winter in my garage.
Iginition fork lock, rear rotor lock, front rotor lock with alarm and a brake lever lock. (Both bikes).
I have them, I use them rather than throw them in a drawer.
I had this stolen in 1979 - it still hurts - and it's not the money.

And yes I know if a theif wants it nothing will defeat that.

That makes no sense. If the ignition is unlocked you can turn it on and off, you just can`t lock the ignition.

It still doesn`t make sense, and there is no need for a snotty reply when someone doesn`t understand your post.

Sorry you still don't understand, I've explained it.
Also sorry you see snottiness or sarcasm where none was intended.
I'm in Detroit not Mayberry.

Thank you, your insite has been most helpful.
You've really giving me something to think about and reflect upon.
I'll try to be a better person.

I've just always locked things that can lock.
My Honda has what they call a FOIL cable - fiber optic integrated lock. A cable coming from the bike that when cut sounds an alarm. I use it, why not?
I certainly lock the ignition with the forks locked over on my Electra Glide.
Sure if a thief wants either they're going to get it.
They're both insured that's really not the point.
It's just habit.
A guy at work doesn't lock the ignition on his Fat Bob, that's his habit, I guess that's a pretty common thing.
