Default RE: Speedometer question.

The speedo cable connection in your pic looks pretty standard. Pretty much all the automotive cable driven speedo's I've messed with connect like that.

An electronic speedo could be used on your bike. Dakota Digital make all kinds of electronic speedos. I have one in my Espirt. It will trigger off of virtually anything and you calibrate it by pushing the button, driving exactly one mile and pushing the button again.

They also sell a pulse sender that fits on the end of a speedo cable to trigger your electronic speedo with. As the cable turns, it closes a microswitch and the electronic speedo can read that. Problem is that unless you have some way to calibrate it, you probably are going to be stuck. The Dakota Digital ones will calibrate, so that would work, but if you are talking about a OEM speedo I doubt the pulses would match up. I have one of the speedo cable senders but it didn't work on on my Esprit because of the length of the speedo cable (8-10 ft?).
