I am planning on doing a cam bearing replacement on my 98 Ultra, has 28k miles on it and has never had any engine work. Was going to do lifters andpushrods right away too. Question is does anyone make a kit with all required parts, gaskets, shims all togeather ? If not any reccomendations on the lifters and pushrodsif I get them seperately ? Thanks
Directparts.com used to have a kit called Pass A Truck with the EV-27 cam in it, but I think they have been bought out by someone else. I put that kit on a 1997 FLHTC and what a difference. It had adjustable pushrods, CompuFire ignition, and a Mikuni HSR-42 carburetor in the kit. I already had Vance and Hines 2 into 1 Pro Pipe on it. It will make that bagger a much more powerful machine.

There is an ebay link for you! That kit is hands down the cheapest anywhere and it even comes with lifters! It has the cam, all gaskets, rev tech adjustable pushrods, big axle lifters the bearing and whatever else it takes to do the job. (i think thats it) $270 shipped to your house is all of a $100 dollar savings over dennis kirk or J&P! I was looking to do the same thing but i have so much goin on that i have not gotten it done yet. Also, i called that shop that has those on ebay. He seemed very nice and knowledgable. Their number is on the site. Give em a call he will be happy to help you im sure. Hope this helps.
I think http://www.jirehcycles.com/ has the EV-27 for about $120.00 and I got 18523-86B tappet assemblies from http://www.discountbiker.com/ for about $22.50 each. I already had the RevTech adjustable chrome moly push rods and torrington bearing, so I didn't need them.
I also replaced the cam bearing, but had to get a bearing removal tool from eBay.
Auto Zone stores will loan you the "BLIND HOLE PULLER KIT" to remove the old style inner bearing. You just have to pay for the tool with a credit card and when you return the tool they will credit your card so it won't cost anything other than the gas to pick up and drop the tool back off.
Look for my thread "camshaft end play" there is a lot of great info there on doing the EV 27 cam. I put one in my bike and should be firing that baby up in a day or so.
Good luck

When you do the cam be sure to follow the instructions very closely especially the part about checking to make sure the closest lobe to the case does not touch the case at all. Some have had to dremel the case a tiny bit for clearance.
Have the old gear off the stock cam removed from the cam and install that gear on the Andrews EV27. Be sure to take it to a reliable shop. It is a lot easier to doit that way than going through all the measuring and miking steps. You know then that you have the matching gear set with the pinion gear.
End play on mine is set at .008.
Whatever route you go make sure you get "time saver" pushrods, not all adjustable pushrods are timesavers. Also if you buy a "kit" make sure that it is a torrington cam bearing. Shop around before you buy, check Jireh, Zanottis' and Chicago Harley.
