Got a right hand indicator problem on a 1992 FXR, won't come on let alone flash ............ I thought it was a fuse problem but I can't find any ................. HELP !
I would check the wiring specifically the ground. Possible broken wire. Had this happen to mine. Wires came out of the clips and it rubbed the rear tire and broke.
Started to REALLY look at the indicator problem. Opened up the headlamp and was horrified at the mess. The speedo has been moved to the petrol (Gas) tank, a 'Custom' headlight fittedand the wiring has been extended by cutting the electrical plugs and splicing in twin audio speaker cable and house earth wiringcable. I found two broken wires on the loom at the headstock (movement/rub fractures) and more'chocolate' block, scotchlock connectors and cheapcrimps than I could count with ALLearth wireson a single bolt head, no ring terminal just stripped wire around the head. How the thing didn't catch fire I'll never know.Spent 2-3 hours soldering and replacing all the crap ................. and I still don't have the right hand side indicators working. This is gonna be a real long drawn out fault.
Andre,
There should also be a turn signal module under the left side cover. Mine just blew up after 15 years. A bad module could also cause the symptoms you are seeing. I have a new module on order and should have it by Tuesday. I'll post you if it solved my problem.
I had the same problem but with the left indicator. It was the plug for the turn signal module. You have a male plug and female where the module meets the harness. I just flared the male plugs and used a zip tie to hold them together. No problems since. Good luck. I now it can be very frustrating.
