I have been running an S&S E on my 80" Evo for 12+ yrs. With the right jets and accel pump setup it has been a hard puller especially when passing 50-100 roll on. Have run it at the drags and it really excells there. Simple and easy to tune, excellent starting(kick only), I can recommend it highly!
I did not like the CV's when they first came out.. ( I had two bikes one running a S&S and one with a Mikuni) We had some bikes comeing into the shop and in time grew to really like them,
Yes they are limited to a certin horsepower, But properly setup
pound for pound they are hard to beat... Its hard to get anyone to agree on anything anymore ... Many people modifiy and build there bikes up yes in that case a CV is not the way to go ...But its hard to argue that someone with a stock bike or simple mods that likes to cruise the CV carb is good at what it does!
Anybody got any preferences on aftermarket carbs ? ........ Pro's & cons re Mikuni HSR & S&S super E carb ? ......... Performance over stock CV andfuel returns on all three ?
If I fit an S&S on a 1991 FXR Evo will I need new cables ?
Unless your really hopping up that Evo stay with the CV. It will actually adjust for altitude, unlike pre closed loop EFI. Must people put to big a carb on thier stock Evo and wonder why the guy with the CV beats them.
