All threaded surfaces should be cleaned and either lubricated or loctited before assembly, that way your torque settings will be consistent.
Ethanol is ethyl alcohol or grain alcohol. In you burn straight alcohol (usually methanol which is a petroleum based alcohol) you need to richen your mixture by about 40%. Additionally you need to make compression ratio, timing, and float changes among other things. Failure to do these things can and will cause problems. When you introduce 10% ethanol into a motor that is already running lean you have a recipe for potential problems. Remember these motors were designed years age before ethanol was introduced or needed. That's why we have some of the problems we have now. Just my two cents worth.
When mine blew at 16,000 and when I got to it the right side bolts were loose and pushed the gasket out on that side.
That kind of sucked because it was just good and broke in and have to but new rings, rehone it new base gasketin because of 2 loose bolts.
Make sure you use your tap and die set and clean the threads before you button the thing back up.
