Default Starter runon problem

&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; I haven't seen this problem on the forum before, so if anyone has a fix, please help.
The starter&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; has been cranking slow, but now it turns over twice and the spins until I disconnect the ground.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; This problem was interminitent.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; Now it's constant. Starter and solenoid were new before it started doing this all the time and I've tested the relay.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;

Had this happen on my bike and it ended up being a wire grounded to the frame.&nbsp\\; Check all the wires for a short.&nbsp\\; Good luck.

Does it keep spinning if you turn the ignition off? If not, it is most likely your relay. If it does keep spinning with the ignition off, look at your starter. Does it need shims? If the sarter gear is too tight to its mate it may need a shim on one of the starter bolts. If it's not a shim issue it must be the solenoid sticking.

I'm not familiar with 1988 big twin starters so I'm sorry if I'm way off.

Thanks for the replys. I pulled the solenoid apart and it was fried. Now I need to figure out why its cranking slowly. Thats how I fried the solenoind by pushing the starter to hard when the bike didn't want to start right away. Starter is new, relay checked out, load test done on battery. I don't know how to test starter switch. Oh well, I,ll get a new solenoid and get on the road and next time it doesn't start first kick I'll push start until I figure this out. Thanks again for the help.
