Default twin cam swap

just wondering. has anyone ever put a twin cam in an Evo FLHt frame? not that I necessarily think I need to, just wondering if it was ever done.

Yes.My friennd put TC in to his Shovel FLcomething. He said it fitted without any problem. Just remove old engine/tranny and then put new one.

What about an FXR, but really I'm not to sure an Evo is a better engine anyway.....

Rather, what I am trying to say; One could get a better bike with a new evolution engine than a new Twin-Cam....

Please take some pictures of the Shovel frame with a twin cam engine/tranny in it. i would love to see that. just to put a evo in a shovel frame the frame has to be cut and extended because the evo engine is taller than the shovel.

as far as the twin cam in a pre 99 FLHT frame , i read an article where a fellow did the swap. he had to cut the brace under the trans and turn it over. the brake lever had to be redone and several other things. it is not just a take out and replace in my humble opinion.

dog 155, please post a picture of your 124 evo in the 02 RK frame. i have heard of people doing that but never seen it.

later..................

I did learn that the secret to making the swap painless is getting the right wiring harness, say for a carbed motor. Also using parts from the same era as the frame, everything bolted together.

You are right. He has cut and weld this brace. It will be difficult to post pictures because they are 500 miles away the best I could find :

Mrówka, Evo powered Shovel FLHcustom, author of this post, TC powered Shovel, my sportser As I wrote my friend said swap was easy. No major mods or problems.
