ok whats up guys this will be my first thread. i was just curious about something. over the winter i striped the motor down on my 92 heritage to replace the head gaskets and rings. well geting into the motor i noticed it had 5 over pistons , screaming eagle push rods , screaming eagle revbox, and some sort of a bigger cam.it has other trans work to accel faster anyway o my brother in law has the new 96 on a 2007 fatboy and we draged and they ran dead even through a quarter. but anyone have any idea what size the motor has been stroked to . when i bought it i assumed it was stock and wasnt told other wise
It's probably not stroked, just first oversize on the pistons, and five thou is barely that. In my observations, a fairly stock evo (good tune up, decent carb or what they call "stage 1") will have no problems keeping up with stock Twinkies at all. Most likely the other way around.
yea hopefully what it its .im hoping its not stroked but either way my bro in law was pissed his "big 96" wouldnt out run my "little 80" as he says. but when rebuilding i put a s&s super e on it and seemed to help it pick up a little better with throttle response
yea i know the new 96 motors are more for highway riding there pure performace. but the 110s will scream and are scary fast im not that impressed becuase. i rode a screaming eagle dyna it will take you fast as you wana go on a harley but it just didnt seem to have the power i expected . i was disappointed to say the least
Pull the timing plug (left case between the cylinders ) Look at the flywheels as you turn the motor over (4th gear and have someone push the bike slooooowly Let me know what the flywheel #'s are If it's stroked the #'s will usually tell what stroke
A thin stiff wire down a plug hole, while gently turning the motor over by hand, will give you a good idea of the stroke. You might just get in the rear cylinder without taking the tank off. Standard is 4.25 inch, the usual stroker kit is 89 inches, using 4.625 inch.
