Default '99 Evo is awfully dull

The Evo in my '99 FXST is extremely dull looking compared to the twin cam standard motors. Is that just how they were made, or did it dull out over time? If it dulled out over time, is there a way to restore that brighter finish?

I don't ride with any other Evo's so I have no frame of reference for what it should look like.

I'm excited at the prospect of using something called Pig Snot on my bike! I'd have fun scrubbing the bike just 'cause of the name.

That looks like a good wax, but not so much a restorative. I think I need something that will take the age off of the engine. Again, that's if the engine was shiny to begin with. I want it to look like the Standards that I see rolling away from the dealer now.

Any protectant like Armor-All will shine it up.

I really have no idea what your talking about from your description. But, if you mean the black is now kinda grey, S-100 will help. They have a couple of products that you might want to try. I use the corrosion protectant after washing. Really brightens things up, makes the engine look great. They also have an engine brightener, that I havent tried yet, but should fix what your not liking.. I've been using S-100 on my bikes for years. The '94 still draws comments like "you mean '04, right?"...

If you are referring to your raw aluminum,it may need to be repolished.Without seeing it it is impossible to suggest anything.Try this in a spot that is not too obvious, first try polish, with Auto-Sol or Mothers,if no luck then you will need to use sandpaper.Trying to polish the bike all together is more than a pain.Make it a winter project! Good Luck

So what have you tried to do "brighten" it up?
