Default Dumb fuel filter question

Can I replace the internal tank fuel filter on my EFI EVO with a external inline filter ?
Has anyone done this ?

@$60 for a stupid filter, there has to be a more economical way.

Hum, good question, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I have no idea on that application, but the filter must be before the pump. If that helps..

The filter keeps particles from entering the pump AND the EFI system, so I would not. You can put a filter in-line as long as it will withstand the 55-62 PSI fuel pump-line pressure.

How many times have you had to replace it? You're going to disfigure your bike for the sake of what... $12 a year?

Don't mean to burn anybody but that was what I was thinking when I read the original question. I mean, how often does it need to be replaced? Maybe, once every 5 years?

I beg to differ.... The fuel pump has a screen to keep the large particles out, but the actual fuel filter is after the pump. I know this because that is the way it is set up from the factory on my Ultra.
