Default transmission life

so how many of you have a ton of miles on your bikes and havent ever touched the transmission. im not talking about changing the oil but had to have it taken apart and major work done on it. just wondered how many miles these trannys can go, if taken care of, before they just wear out.

85,000 on the '97 FLSTC and it STILL clunks into gear like it's new and 30,000 on the '01 XL1200C! The sporty will go first cuz I beat the **** out of it esp. when a Yamakawahondzuki tries to beat me on an "eigth or quarter mile stretch" (got me at top end-sob)! Wouldn't be prudent.

138K on a '92 5 speed. Had to replace the sprocket because Harley made them with the inner splines too narrow, making them prone to failure (although mine didn't wear out). The shifter return spring broke once. That's the sum total of transmission-related repairs. No worn out gears, no noise from the tranny.

Late 93 is when HD went to the thicker splines on the trans belt pulley This eliminated the cantilevering action on the narrower spline unit Thank you very much!
