Read a lot of posts from guys praising Dyna ignitions and since gas is getting so sorry these days, I'm pondering upgrading to one, though I've always been a die-hard stock ign. fan...
Question - Anybody have a programmable ignition module on a bike with a factory tach? (FL) (that the tach still works)
Nobody who sells them can tell me whether the tach output on the Dyna or Ultima version will work with a factory tach setup for dual fire.
Hey, I had a 2000i put on my dual plug 58 panhead for the last five years until it took a crap on me. It ran fine until then. My bike always runs good just before it craps out on me. So I'm in the process of getting another! It always has been a hard starter!
Thanks for the reply. I got tired of guessing and asking and bought one. Though I haven't gotten the programing software yet, so far I love it! Much smoother with single fire, otherwise, no noticable increase in mileage or power.
Glad to hear yours lasted well. I've heard a good bit about Cranes getting pop'd by voltage spikes, and low voltage. No mention of that with the 2000ki (Ultima) So, I'm gonna wire a quick disconnect plug, rather than wire in the harness for the programming software. That way if mine ever gives out, I can just pull the cover and replace it on the side of the road if need be... yes, I'm going to keep a spare module in the saddlebag
