I can't speak for the rest of the Rider's out there but all three of ours; 96 FLHTCI, 2001 FLHTCI Trike and the 03 Sportster do that. Whether the discs stick a bit, whatever, these things are not like an auto. FWIW (for what it's worth) in the primary, the oil is a coolant for the clutch, not a lubricant. It is a lubricant for the primary chain. In an open dive neither lubrication for a chain or coolant for the clutch is needed. And, a multiplate clutch still works.

I had my 96 clutch jammed with internals, and I could hold it at a stop, just not shift into neutral. With a competition clutch, I dont think that would happen, but with an EVO clutch with the double steel spring (probably a disc release initiator) plate, it can. Think about removing the friction disc package if it has not been replaced already, if you have the same style clutch .

If you mean that it would not release so you could get it into neutral, you may have the same problem, if your bike has the same clutch. That is beyound my knowledge base. THe EVO engine bikes and the Sportsters up to 2003 still used the double spring plate.

It started to stick a little at first, out in DELMARVA Bikeweek and the 165 miles back home was a bi-ch. In the dreaded Cheseapke Bay Bridge traffic line and Power Walk contest, I had to shut it down more than ride it. Went through some cable adjusting myself.

Trap door? I couldn't find any trap door or any place that would give me access to the clutch cable without removing the whole cover to the trans.

Yep, that's it. The End Bell, 'trap door', place where the clutch cable enters the tranny.

This is the trap door off a 2001 EGC, with a Burley lite reduced effort kit, but they all are similar. The kit had to be removed on the trike. It interferred with the Champion Reverse. See the wera on the dog bone connector? In a 1/4 mile of around the block. Installed the HD 18 degree ramps.

Great. Thanks. So, I'll wait until I'm ready to change the trans fluid before I reomve it.
