Default Backfire

I have a 1991 softail springer with 70,000 miles and I am getting a rapid backfire, it will idle fine but when I give some gas I get this rapid backfire anyone got any ideas Thanks for any help you can give me it has a stock carb on it only mods are a stage one

Vacuum switch hose broken or leaking, intake manifold leaking, throttle slide diaphram leaking.

If it's backfiring every stroke, could be a burned intake valve, but most likely an external problem as mentioned above.

sounds like you have one of 2 issues. either weak spark, or incorrect fuel mixture. check for good hot spark from both wires, make sure the plugs are good, check for intake leaks, and make sure the jets are all clean in the carb. This is assuming you didn't start having trouble after doing some kind of mods to it....

Thanks for the info I pulled off the right tank it was easier to get behind the carb to check the vacuum hoses, the manual shows the hose going to the vov and then to the voes mine goes directly to the voes and the hose is very hard and on the left side of the carb the other vacuum is capped is this normal
