may be a dumb question, but where is the fill point on a 90 fxstc, my book says to fill it, bike upright, to where the oil touches the rubber plug. i have been filling it , upright, untill it is level with the bottom of the fill hole.
Yep, that's it.. Gotta leave some room for venting.
Course when oil is hot it, level will be a bit higher..
On my 94 FB, after having bike up-right knowing it is properly full, I put it on kickstand & then made a small full-mark on dip stick at that level.. So I can easy check with bike on kick-stand. & know I'm good to go..
2.5- 2.3/4 Qts. will do you just fine, and add as needed..is how I do it.
Better to be a little under than over..On your dipstick, it should read between the two lines that are on the stick, and not over the top line, then you got too much, and under the bottom line, not enough. Hope this helps.

Always check it warm, like after you been riding it a while and then it has set for a bit, and cooled down a tad, not hot and level with the bike upright.

Hello- Evo softail ONLY has an "add" line.. Nothing else, that's why I made a full mark for mine, leaning on sidestand.. Much simpler..

I don't know what kinda dipstick you got but everyone I've ever seen has 2 lines on the stick. It has a full line at the top of the stick, and it has an add line at the bottom of the stick, or grooves if you will. That comes straight outta the owners manual and I just looked and it is clearly diagrammed to show that on Pages 152 & 153 of the H D Owners Manual for 1999, last year of the evo softails. Check it out.. Seeing is believing....
