That must be new for 99 softail ?

Cause even my '94 manual states only one line. The 'Add' line.

And full is up to the rubber on the dip stick.

Well, correct info is important.. Perhaps you don't get that ??

Since I used to own a 90 softail, & now a 94 softail, and both only have oem sticks an only "add" line.
Then that would be correctly answering the original question.

Can't say for '99, but if so, just learned somethin new. And if you are listening, you just learned something new as well..

Also my 97 R King has an upper mark & a lower mark, on dipstick.

88 Softail Custom here, with OEM dipstick...it has an upper groove and a lower groove...keep it between the lines when level and you're good to go.

89 FXR has two lines, between the two and ride on.

Hate to kick a dying horse but please clarify for me the oil level check procedure for a 1998 Heritage Softail (EVO). To check the oil level, check it hot (after a good ride) and with the bike upright (riding position, off kickstand) - Correct? My dipstick has two markers (lower and upper). Oil to be in that range. Is it best to have it in between the markers on an older EVO motor? Lowering the oil pressure?

Thx

I`ve been riding a Softail for 21 years, and I couldn`t tell you if there is one line or 200 lines on the dipstick, I never look at it. I just eyeball the level, about 1/2 inch below the filler neck with bike level...
