I recently purchased a set of rocker boxes for my '97 Road King. Today, I started pulling the old ones off, when I realized the center part is different. What kind of problem do I have here? Are the black ones an earlier model part? Will these work on my '97? Any help is appreciated.
From 1993 on the engine breaths through the heads You can see the rubber umbrellas in your last picture The middle piece you have is pre 1993 when they breathed through the bottom end The heads were set up for this (breathing thru the heads ) in 1992 but it didn't take place till 1993 I'd stick with your stock set up
Thanks for the responses....most of you anyway. Upon further research, I figured out that the guy had sent me the pre-92 boxes. Sucks to be me. I contacted him and he's trying to find me a set of late model boxes to powder coat. Looks like the king will be down for a while. Good news is, I have another bike to ride....bad news is, the girlfriend can't ride on the back of that one, so she might be less inclined to let me go riding. Oh well.
