What causes the bike to go into false neutral when you shifting up through the gears. Will the type of tranny oil help? or is my bike telling me tranny work in the near future?
Thanks.

Basically the first gear is disengaging before the next engages. There are a number of things that can cause this like shift arm out of adjustment/loose, worn parts (shifter drum, shift forks, etc) or just lazy foot shifting. The fluid type can affect shifting, we use Royal Purple Heavy. Hope this helps.

Oil is the lifes blood of your engine, while it is an air cooled engine the oil goes a long way with cooling and keeping it running cool . Having an oil cooler won't hurt, not having one and needing it will. We put oil coolers on all of the engines that we do past stage I, and reccomend them on all Shovels and twin Cams. By heavy we mean the heaviest weight 75W140, you may be able to use a lighter weight, it depends on how you ride.

Besides a lazy (or tired) foot, the #1 cause is the lever loose on the transmission and it doesn't take much. #2 is the foot lever loose. A little bit of play is normal in the linkage joints and the foot lever bushings, regardless of the setup (fwd or center)
