Default Rough shift when smokin hot
03 FXDWG - during the heat of the day (Tucson) have a helluva time shifting gears or getting into neutral when the block gets real hot. just changed out primary case lube and tranny oil is clean and proper level. any ideas? running non-syn oil, will that help? only a real problem when the bike is cookin

Redline Shockproof in the trans.
That or Amsoil will fix you up

If you dont want to spend $15 to $20 on one qt of oil, you could just get the Lucas 85w140 gear oil (dino) for $6. Works as good as the high priced stuff.

Check your clutch adjustment, adjust when the bike is at ambient temp. and adjust the push rod (adjustment screw) 1/2 turn out from lightly seated. Clutch adjustments on warm engines really messup the clutch when it gets hot. I useSyn 3 in the primary just for the little heat protection it gives, used it for 32k miles and no problems. But then again I don't have the heat here, but didn't have any problems in Sturgis or Biketoberfest traffic in Daytona.

Amsoil does seem to help.

I'm running B&M Trickshift in the primary right now. Have been running Redline HD shockproof in the tranny. Everything is feeling pretty good.... even hot.

amsoil in tranny . trickshift or amsoil in primary. Cleared that problem right up for me. In Florida so I know what your saying.

You might try taking a couple of ounces of oil out. Maybe the heat is making the level get a little high which could cause difficult shifting.
