Default Another EVO Question

First, thanks for the help with my AC question. As far as exhaust goes, are you better off to keep the original head pipes with the cross over pipe. Or doesn't it make a big difference to get rid of them. I would like something with a real deep tone, from what I have seen and heard, generally that takes a longer set of pipes like Longshots or similar, don't think I will get what I want just throwing on some Slip ons.

I would keep the existing cross over pipe to save $$$ for other mods. A change in the exhaust that minute is not going to have a "Seat of the Pant's" power change.

The original pipes will serve you well for all but the most extreme tuning, when a true 2 into 1 is better. Otherwise it is down to looks. A pair of slip-ons will do what you want, but there are a lot of them out there!

You could spend a month of Sundays looking through this forum for earlier discussion on mufflers, or find a local gathering point where you can see and hear them in person. The internet doesn't do sound very well!

Hesitated weighing in one this, most people get differing results so it is not always easy to answer. My experience has been that removing my stock pipes and putting on a Basani 2:1 ALONG WITH a Hypercharger air cleaner created a noticable change in performance. Now sound is one thing, but helping the engine breathe better is just good sense as they are generally "corked" up a bit. It moved my power band, helped mileage and made the bike much more fun to ride.

IMHO: ThunderHeader is the best performing, best sounding 'system' you can put on an EVO. Again MY OPINION, but when the factory head pipes finally die on my 93 FLHS, there will be a ThunderHeader 2 into 1 on my scoot.
