Will a newer 1340 evo fit in my 1985 flhtc frame ?
I want to buy a new engine but all i find are engines with the oil filter on the front.. Mine is under the engine .. ? Fit or no ?

On our '90 flhtcu, I kept the oil filter under the transmission when I installed a new Ultima engine which was equal to a 1992-97? Evo that has the bolt holes for the oil filter to be mounted in the front. I thought about moving it front but later decided I liked it better underneath. I did have to modify a few of the oil hoses from the tank to get them to fit the new oil pump, but they recommended changing them and flushing the oil tank during a new engine installation anyhow so it was no big deal cutting a few bends out.

Default last year of evo

97 is the last year of the evo 1340 right ? So anything up to that date is the same as the engine i have in my 1985 ? Primary system all bolts on to the new model year engines ? ... 1984 - 1997 ?

98 was the last year of the evo in the Dynas. 99 for the rest of the models.

Default how big a job ?

Its a job because the dam clutch and everything has to come off .. I hate that inner primary cover .. that puts everything in the pain in the *** catagory .. got to have a special puller for that clutch right ?
