Default do I need a new clutch

I have noticed that the release of my clutch is at the very end of the throw. It is not slipping yet. I have tried adjusting it but no luck. Do I need a new clutch or is there a way to adjust it? My bike is a 95 e-glide.

Are you just adjusting the cable Slack adjuster or are you removing the derby cover and adjusting the clutch in there??

I am pulling the derby cover and adjusting. It just bothers me that the clutch just catches at the very end of the release. The only thing I can think of is worn clutches. I was watching the pressure plate as the clutch was engaged and I have plenty of throw.

Whats the mileage on your bike? Usually clutch should last almost forever, I have 80.000
miles and it's OK

Go find yourself a local hawg shop & see if they have some steel disc's laying around. Add 1 as a spacer & you might get a lil more throw. I had the same issue, P.O. ran the wrong oil & they were worn out. I just bought a new set of steels & friction disc's & all was good. Easy as toast to install!

You need to loosen the cable adjuster all the way first. Then turn the screw on the ckutch in until it makes contact. Then back it out 1/2-3/4 turn, lock it down. adjust the cable adjuster until you have 1.8" of free play in the cable. Then it should work OK, if not then it's time to replace the clutch pack. Hope this helps.
