carb question

You can rebuild the old carb for next to nothing, the only problem is the aftermarket kits for the old carbs are hit and miss. You may only need to replace the fuel pump diaphram.

The CV or S&S would be a nice upgrade.

most of you guys are missing the point,

he doesn't have the CV, he has the butterfly type.

CV, Mikuni or S&S, once you upgrade to one of these you will kick yourself for not getting rid of that butterfly carb years ago...

I went from the butterfly Keihin to a Mikuni, more power and much quicker throttle response. Very user friendly carbs.

Note to the guys that are missing the point: The CV carbs have only been used on Harleys since 1990.

shenork-- I overlooked that you would have a stock butterfly carb... allow me to change my comment to "upgrade to a CV"..

I did not/ do not want to seem like I was pushing Wally's services, but Wally also sells CV carbs
at a reasonable price. I have one of his and it looks and worked better than a '06 takeoff
I purchased.
