what would the safest size to bore the jugs on an 80 inch stock bike. ive got a 92 thats using oil. cant see any when starting and cant see when i decel. im guessing i put about 250 miles on and oil is down about 1/4 inch on the dipstick. did a compression test and both jugs were 160 psi. im guessing the rings are fine. thinking seals but if i tear down im thinking new rings or go up one size piston. what can i safely bore them to? thanx guys.
Increments are .005, .010, .020, .030 and Weisco makes .040 pistons but by then - you got nothing left and will have problems if you go that big.
160 compression and it's not smoking or leaking? Leave it alone. The oil level will vary with oil temperature and depending on the last several miles of the ride, they leave a little more in the bottom end at times.
