Default Transmission oil

What do you guys run in your transmission? I was thinking about going with the redline heavy shockproof, but noticed there is also a v-twin transmission oil that appears to be the same thing. I was also considering amsoil. Not to get into an oil debate but those of you who have used both what are your preferences and why? Also I think my dealer still has some of the old primary fluid left but if not what do you run?

Transmission fluid. No brand is better than the next anymore than Coke is better than Pepsi: it's just a preference but either one tastes good when you're thirsty!

Tried Red Line, tried Bel Ray, never noticed any difference between the expensive stuff and the regular 90w gear lube from the auto parts store, so I use the cheap stuff.

Just had the transmission apart last month and all the parts looked fine (115,000 miles).

Being a "car guy", I've usually got access to automotive fluids.. I've been running Motorcraft 75w120 Synthetic in mine for the last 10-15k and love it.. Its much quieter and smoother shifting than any other fluid I've tried. Primary gets Merc V ATF.. Still trying to find an engine oil I like though..

Like you have read it's all about brand preference. As long as you run gear oil find one locally you like.

That's me. I use the cheapest gear oil I can get my hands on at the auto parts store or Walmart and change it every 5000 miles. My original 4-speed tranny has 105,000 miles on it and has never been opened up.

Yeah, the heavy gear lube is great in four speeds 'cause it takes longer to leak out.
