I have owned ironheads, shovelheads, revtechs, and the newer twin cams, i just pick up a 1985 FLHTC with the 1340 bone stock, im installing the Mikuni 42, ev46 cam, adjustable pushrods for easy install of cam, and samson 21/4" true dual drag pipes with torque cones. will this be a good fit for the evo? i use the bike now as an everyday rider and will use it for the occasional trip of 1000 mile or less. as i stated the bike is bone stock....also my rear caliper is shot, ive called everyone and cannot find it...the thing is huge and i have never seen one like this..if anybody has one i will buy it immediatly...thank you in advance for any and all comments and suggestions. ive posted a photo of the rear caliper i need.
If memory serves me, I believe that is the Kelsey-Hayes caliper and yes they are rare. You might be able to find one on E-Bay. You could also ask your dealer to do a search of other dealers, or you could buy a Harley map book that has the addresses and phone numbers of all the dealers nationwide in it. I took the book and called all the dealers in my state and worked outwards until I found the detachable tour pak and some discontinued trim items that we needed for our '95 FLHTC. You could also buy an aftermarket caliper and bracket like Hawg Halter Inc. Hope this helps.
the bleeder hole is oblonged and leaks real bad, been riding with front brakes for the last month, i already did a dealer search and had no luck, also have spent many hours on ebay...to make matters even better my hsr 42 just took a dump and now need a new carb...550 dollars is going to have to wait....lol....have 5 kids to feed
Bleeder hole shouldn't be too hard to fix. Take it off, take it apart, bring it to someone that can TIG the hole closed, then drill and tap a new hole. Or, you could try helicoiling the existing hole first. It seals at the bottom. There may even be oversize bleeders available. Try an auto parts store.

I did the dealer search too when I was looking for my parts. Not all sealers are hooked up to it, and to make matters worse there are two different programs that the dealers are using and they do not talk to each other. That's why I got the Harley tour guide/trip map and started calling. After a half hour of phone calls I had what I needed.
there are repair kits for the bleeder hole. i had to fix the hole on my shovel banana caliper. go to an auto parts store and ask about one. don't go to a store that has the pimple faced kids at the counter go to one that knows how to look in paper parts books. i have an 85 evo too. some of the 85's didn't have the pistons notched out for bigger cams some did however. you might want to find out if yours have the right pistons before you put in a bigger cam.
Almost forgot, you do realize that caliper was also installed in the front during the mid-'70's. So when you do your search look for Harley brake calipers and sift through them.
