Default Enclosed Chain Drive

Well i have a 1984 FLHTC and it has the Enclosed Chain Drive...well the only part left is just the sprocket housing....just want to know what you all have dont with this? keep it, remove it? go to belt??

I've got an 84 FLTC, still running the enclosure. In '90 my chain snapped and blew out the enclosure, I ran it open until I found another at a swapmeet, I complain about it but I won't remove it. It's part of the 84's charm.

I would at least lube the chain untill you figuer out what to do. A change to a belt probably will not be cheap.

be ok to keep running without the CHAIN BOOTS

theres an 84 on ebay that is being parted out just look it up Pinwall Cycle they had the whole set up inner primary, chain enclosure, chain, rear wheel, and all

You can run it without the boots, you will just need to lube the chain often.

......or you can go this route. 2.2.3 FXR and FLT

you can find a belt drive setup, new, on ebay for under $500.00.

any of you have the part number for the ENCLOSED CHAIN BOOTS... for the 1984 flhtc...

Just fix it. If you run it open and let the chain get funky it will wear out your VERY EXPENSIVE and hard to find rear sprocket.
