Using the original cam gear will often result in a quieter cam chest.

What mp said. Before you order,i'd check out yer original cam gear for wear. You can buy a cam with or with out the gear.

If you want to order a good cam, think about the Andrews EV27.I installed one on my stock 96' Road King and it worked out well.Cam #431-550.It's a good cam if you own a bagger. If you need new push rod tubes, go with adj. push rods,Harley dealer beats the cost with the Screaming Eagle adj.push rods. For around $100.Shop around.Good Luck, Speed O.

Did you have to take off the heads to install the push rods. I thought I saw a post earlier from the Dr. stating that he learned the hard way that the screaming eagle push rods could not be installed with out taking the top end off.

that is interesting! I would think it would depend on weather the engine is out of the frame or not but I dont know the answer to that question either!

if their not time savers, you must remove rocker boxes, not heads
if their times savers, you just cut out your stock ones and install

No.If you still have the factory tubes you need to cut'em out before installing the new cam.The Harley dealer has the Screaming Eagle,"quick install pushrod kit.Part # 17987-98A .If you need to cut out the old tubes, use bolt cutters only.Anything else you might get filings. You take loose your top end, more work, more gaskets, more money. good info as I am looking to install a cam soon, and am just learning all about my evo. I feel home home because I never want a twinkie, and love the simplicity of this engine.
