Unhappy Will not start

94 Road King started with noisy valve train, had bad lifter and the others replaced, still noisy after about a 30 minute ride. I parked it and would start it every other day and then on day wold not start. It does have fuel, it is getting to the carb. I checked for spark and no spark at plugs, checked voltage at coil and zero volts at coil, jumpered direct from battery to coil and still no voltage. It does turn over with out a problem but will not start. Would appreciate all suggestions, maybe some has experienced the same trouble and can shed some light on this gloomy situation, cuz I really miss riding my Hog.

Same thing I was thinking but not 100% sure due to I don't have alot of experience with bikes and this being my first, I didn't want to start guessing and blowing $$$$.

Thanks.

I am still boggled as to why there is no voltage at the coil, is there a line fuse or circuit breaker. I will have to trace the hot wire from the coil to the source if all else fails unless someone here has previously had the same thing happen and where tthe culprate lies.

You mentioned using a jumper between the battery and coil and still no "voltage" (?) I'm assuming you meant no spark?

Power basically runs from the main switch to the kill switch to the module/coil (via the white wire). There are breakers between the battery-main switch (main breaker) and main switch-to kill switch (ign breaker).

Yeah, that's what I mean, no spark. By module you mean ignition module right? I have asked a couple of friends about the problem and What I have done in means of troubleshooting, they both tell me it could be the HI-4 module and recommend replacing both module and coil with a DYNA kit.

Any module can go bad. Take a look at the module when you turn it over. The red LED should blink on and off. If it doesnt then it's bad. If it does then the proplem is probably the coil, that is if all the wiring is good. Hope this helps.

Probably good advice, but pull the timing cover off and look on the lower left of the module and there should be an LED. Turn the switch on and it should come on then off (maybe). Regardless, when cranking with the starter, the LED should blink. If it does only one or neither, then it's bad. Dyna 2Ki or Ultima Programmable (are one in the same) would be a good choice for easy replacement.

Looks llike me and John are typing together again... they say great minds work alike
