Tearing down my 88 electra glide classic this winter for some repair work but also a different look.
So I want to pull the tour pack off to give my bike a lower profile. I was going to go to a solo seat because the other half does not get on the bike much but I have a couple grand brats that like a ride on the old iron bitch so do I leave the stock bagger seat on or will that look stupid???

You keep the stock seat and buy a solo seat and swap them around!
I wouldn't hesitate to leave the stock seat on without the pack. I like the look without the pack on the back - mine has never had one. Lowering would be cool - I have been wanting to do that as well. Taller bars, strip everything unnecessary, wrap everything in balck tape, paint it flat black..... oooops, that's my bike!
When I had my '78 dresser, I removed the tour pak and left the stock seat. Looked fine to me. I also removed the fairing and windshield for awhile. Bike seemed like it would fly without that fairing. lol. That was when I lived in St. Pete, Florida, and most riding was in town. Now that I'm back out in the sticks and the rides are longer, don't think I could do without the fairing now.
Of course it won't look as "cool" with the stock seat, I like the solo look myself. My wife didn't ride as much this year either...new baby this summer. She won't even let me put the tour pack back on. I think it would be nice to have sometimes. But if I really need the storage, I just hook up the trailer. As for the little one's...well hell they wouldn't care if they were sittin right on the fender. Alot of poor chopper girls have to do that I. Makes me laugh, we get down the road and they ask if they can sit on that "ugly" stock seat. Ha! Do what ya want.
O.K., Im gona pull the tour pack & see what it looks like with the stock seat! If I dont like it, Mabey I will chrome up my old tractor seat & mount some coils under it??
I'll keep you posted, Thanks for the feed back!
