98 Dyna hard start
I think I know what the problem is, but not sure how to correct it.
After the bike sits for awhile, it is a b***h to get started. Basically, it isnt getting fuel and will not even fire. I can drain my battery down before I even get a putt putt.
Here is what i did to get it going after cranking and cranking. I pulled the vacuum hose of the vacuum operated fuel valve and sucked on the end of the hose to the valve. I immediately cracked the throttle twice, hit the button and the bike was running.
So then I thought I would just elimate the vacuum valve and run a regular valve, but not sure if the threads are the same size. I also noticed that the bike doesnt have a VOES. I cranked the bike and check the vacuum at the hose to the vacuum fuel valve. It was pulsating, but seemed weak. If I am missing a VOES, could I have a vacuum leak?
The bike is a 98 Dyna Evo with a S&S Super E and manifold.
Thanks for the help!!!

Ok,Im going to assume when you say "sits awhile" you mean, like in the garage for weeks or so,and not after riding it.In which case it could be petcock related,im allmost positive the threads are the same on vacume and non vacume petcocks.Having or not having a voes shouldnt make any differnce with cranking, its used for retardting timing under load.the s/s manifold only has the one vacume paort so as long its hooked up it should be fine,Also if youve changed the cam in the bike these will sometimes decrease cranking vacume.....Alternatly try this cranking sequence, pull choke up,twist throttle 2-3 times, hit starter button for 5-10sec,allow bike to sit for 30-45 sec and twist throttle another 2-3 times, then try to restart.Usally this done 2-3 times will allow the fuel to flow to carb, and the bike to start.

Ok, so I went to purchase a fuel valve off ebay, and the vendors are listing the valves with either a 13/16" nut or 22mm nut. What do I have? All vendors list fitment as 75-06.
My bike is a 98 dyna, but my tank is from a 2002 dyna.
Thanks
