Guys,
Going to look at the bike this weekend and wanted to see if there was anything specific I should be on the look out for.
Bike has been sitting at the dealer for a long time and not sure if it is because people that know more than me see something serious wrong with it or if it just hasn't found the right buyer.
So I'm thinking maybe some of you with more knowledge on these older bikes (did I just call a bike from 1990 old? Ugh) give me a headsup as to what I should be looking for.
I bought my 1990 bike new and it is still going fine! Be warned these things can get a hold on you, as my recent S&S 107 shows! 'Yours' looks fine. The sort of things that go wrong with bikes from around that time is they blow the base gaskets and gearbox oil seal, the stator is likely to short out, the gear-lever return spring breaks, ignition sender (in the cone) can fail. However if it has covered more than 30k miles these have probably all been done by now. None of them have gone wrong again.
The only issues i recall with the 90 model may have been the left side case bearing/race coming loose, maybe some guys who know for sure will eloborate. chad.

I didn't have that problem with mine but I do remember the issue in the early 90's.
I've got a 90 fxrs-sp, that bike looks like it may have been repainted, different tank badges, maybe in a wreck? As with any ride of its age the usual things need to be addressed, ie: cables, brakes, hoses etc. More likely everyone's caught up in the "more c.i." thing. Personally I think the evo is a damn good motor! This comes from someone who previously rode shovels. What's the mileage ,what they asking for it?

They have the mileage at 5193 but that has to be either on a rebuild, it's 105,193 or the speedo was disconnected. Now way it only has 5k miles.
They are asking 5995.00 but if it checks out I'd do it for 5,000 out the door.
