Hey everyone, I got some Transmission troubles i would like to get some thoughts on. Here goes..
Riding monday, slowed for traffic, downshifted. Started to accelerate and went to shift up and nothing. Pulled over and checked all linkage and everything is working like it is supposed to but wont change any gears. I was only a few miles from home so i rode it home in second. I didnt hear and unusual noises from the trans or anything else, just wont shift. Its an 85 FXR so its had its share of shifting! Any ideas out there? Thanks, and attached is a pic of the ole girl!
I had a broken shifter pawl. The post breaks right at the flange. Heard about it a lot. I pulled in to work, down shifted normaly then..... stuck in first gear. Driving home in first gear sucks on a sled. In the picture I put up, the shifter pawl comes through the hole in the upper right of the trans case. Thats where you need to get too.
