The inner fairing used up to and including the 1995 model year has the 4' speaker.

The inner fairing used in the picture below by kingjason is at least a 1996 and uses the 5.25' speaker.

One thing I would suggest is to change the inner fairing/Outer to the one that Harley started to use in 1996. It will bolt right up to your Triple Tree. You just need to change the Fairing Brackets. The wiring will work too. You will need to change some wiring to match, but there more aftermarket stuff for the new inner and outer fairing.

I know this because I did it with a 1989 Ultra I had. If you do, you will need to change the Tachometer and Speedometer too. You can find the parts cheap on eBay. That is what I did. Except for the Speedometer. I wanted a new one. Just remember that the Speedometer needs to be a mechanical drive. You can not use the electronic drive.

Please post the pictures of your antenna setup.

I called Biketronics and told them I had a 95 FLHT that had never had a radio installed in it and asked if I would need any other brackets to install a radio.

The said I would not need any other brackets other than what came with the BT-1006 Retro kit. I'm not sure if this is true, but we'll see. The also said that the automatic volume control would work with my bike which is the reason for using their kit instead of the PAC-Audio kit.

I have done other installs in cars where the radio was supported only by the small cage at the dash and by a bolt at the rear of the radio. I really don't care if the cd player works, I will mostly be using an mp3 player or a thumb drive and I want to use the handlebar controls.

For speakers I can always use the 4" in the fairing and add something else to the lowers if the fairing speakers don't get the job done.

I really don't want to change out the inner fairing and all of the gauges.

Thank you, to everyone for your input.

+1 for the biketronics. I installed mine on a '89 Electra Glide Classic couple of weeks ago. Complete install, including putting on rear speaker pods took about 3 hours. Good luck with whatever you decide. Gee.

+1 again. I replaced my stock '89 radio and speakers with the Biketronics kit last year. Easy plug and play installation and big difference in the sound.

I ordered the Biketronics BT1006 kit. It should be here today.
The radio, a Sony, and Infinity speakers for the batwing will be here Monday.
I'll carve up a cutting board this weekend and see what I can fit in the lowers.

Your Electra Glide system is the middle bracket and hood. It looks like the bracket for the cover is different then the radio bracket. If you need Harley part numbers for the parts let me now. It took me a few months to track down the parts for my fairing.
I also second biketronis, tell them what you are trying to do and they will help you. Very good customer service. They sold me just the parts I needed as I went with a pioneer radio and no hand controls. Also since you are not using the tour-pack I could post a pic of my antenna set up, most of the hidden antennas do not work very well if you are not in a larger city. I get better reception on the bike then in either of my cars.
I received my kit from Biketronics and my new radio.
I told the people at Biketronics that I was putting a radio in a 95 FLHT that didn't come from the factory with a radio and asked if I would need any other brackets to install the radio. They said everything I would need was in the kit. WRONG!

I picked up a Sony MEX BT5700u radio. It has the same dimensions as the
cdx models that Biketronics sells.

What I have is #66 and #68 from the fairing drawing.
There is a tab in the inner fairing for securing the rear of the radio.
I don't have any of the parts in the sound system drawing.

When I slide the radio in until it touches the rear mounting tab in the fairing, it still sticks out about 1/2 inch.

Do I need 120 and 112?
Do I also need 108 and 114?
Are 106 and 110 part of the original radio and do I need them also?

My 89 is an old cop bike that did not have a radio. while it is very similar to your bike, I'm sure there are a few differences.

when you take off the outer fairing you will see a hirizontal bracket theat bolts to each side of the inner fairing and stabilizes it. On mine it has a small tab welded to the middle of it with a hole.

when I put the radio in, the radio also stuck out 1/2". I made up some nylon spacers and grabed 4 longer bolts and spaced the horizontal bracket away from the inner fairing. Then I could slide the radio in and use the center tab of the bracket to bolt the radio to it. It has worked well for the last 15k...

If your bracker has the tab, you can space it and be good to go, if not fabbing and welding a small bracket is quick and cheap to do.

The center bracket is for your electra glide. I dont know if you need the bracket(106) to make the radio fit but it sounds like you need the nose seal(110). The nose seal goes on and the trim ring the radio came with goes on the inside, and replaces 114. I will go out and get some pic for you, if you need I can pull the outer off and get pics of the inside.
The part numbers are: 76274-88 bracket mtg.
76280-88 nose seal

Did your kit come with the clear sticky sheet and the U shaped piece of textured plastic?
Here is what the radio looks like in the fairing:

And here are a few pics of my antenna set up:

And This is the antenna that I used. http://www.walcottcb.com/jbc332fm-am...ath=28_352_418 I made a L shaped bracket with a hole for the antenna base and two holes for the two bolts that mount the rear bumper/bag support.
