[QUOTE=Plow64;7500892]Anyone heard anything about these "street performer" tappets?

Spend the extra jingle and get better lifters, the Maddaogs are attractive by price BUT a price to pay when things go wrong. Harley "B's" are quality and good for most applications but they sometimes don't like aggressive cam lobes, strong springs and rpm's

Has anybody tried the Screaming Eagle lifters? #18568-98. They are a little pricey at about $250.00 for a set.

I was wondering the same thing about the SE lifters. I ordered the Harley B's from Zanotti's, but would like to hear some feedback on the SE lifters.

B's have snap rings with eyelets and A's have a curved wire retainer holding the plungers in the lifter body

I thought the later (99) EVOS had the "B" lifters. I just had mine out for the first time, and they had the wire retainers. Guess they used the old style lifters clear up thru 99.

Did Harley ever put out any EVO's with the "B" lifters, or was that something they changed after the twin cams came out? My 99 still has the lifters with the wire retainers, so these are the old style? I'm a little confused.

Default Pics of "A" vs "B" OEM Lifters

Here's a side-by-side view of the A (on left) and B lifters. Not a lot of difference visually, with the exception of the snap ring retainer on the end of the "B" vice the horseshoe-shaped wire retainer on the "A". The "B" also has a larger diameter "axle" for the roller. The pics don't show it, but both have the same size oil hole in the side.

Is it possible that they put the wire retainers in some of the "B" lifters? Otherwise I guess they never used the "B" lifters in any of the EVO's from the factory. Or maybe HD had some left over "A" lifters, and used them in mine when it was built. I had read that they changed over to the "B" in 94 I believe. Mine is a 99 and I assumed ( I know I know) that mine were the "B". Still wondering.
