89 electra glide ignition switch
my bro in law inherited a sweet 89 ultra..but ign switch is pooched and h/d says its discontinued..ordered 2 now from a couple diff sources and both are wrong..anyone been thru this?

those switches are expensive, if you can find one. the problem is you can't find any. having said that i found a brand new one at a motorcycle swap meet last winter. $5. you could wire a car or boat switch in somewhere else or maybe some toggle switches and keep the original switch to lock the forks. my swap meet special isn't for sale. sorry.

In '05 mine died. It was EOL'd then according to the dealers I went to. I asked them what was the oldest switch they still carried. They gave me one for a 91-94 Glide. Tore off the inner fairing and got out the factory manual with the wireing diagram. I had to change one wire for the hookup , but after that it all went together ok and has been great ever since.
