Default tore her down...

okay, got into tearing her down.... took the heads off to send them out to 'Deweys'

at 30k, pistons were quite caked... gonna replace them with a set of Wisecos or JEs

cylinders obviously need honing, just to clean things up ....but the exterior is in rough shape...just dirty and peeling, you know

....wondering if i should just bite the bullet and replace them with stock black ones?

also ordered an An Andrews EV27 cam kit....waiting on that

anyway, here's what she looks like now.....woo-hoo!

having fun and spending money!!!!

Just send the cylnders out to an engine rebuilder and have him clean them in a heated dip tank. That should remove the finish so that you can paint them with some high heat paint. While it's there you could also have them bored out to .010" oversize (you need to send the pistons too!!). That way you know the clearance is good. You might want to look at Mahle pistons, most of the NASCAR teams use them. They are a quality product.
The you could take the money you saved by not getting new cylinders into some other "Go Fast" stuff. Hope this helps.

A friend of mine painted his with HD wrinkle and baked them in the oven. His OL $hit. Cleaned up the edges with a fine file and sandpaper. They look good.
