I can pickup an 2005 model air filter backing plate fairly cheap but not for sure if it will fit on my 94 EVO. Does anybody know the differance bettween the twin cam and evo backing plate?
Thats where I found the one I'm looking at but it's off 2005 twin cam that has the breather built into the plate just what I'm looking for but not sure will fit?
Its my understanding that Twinkie backing plates do not interchange with Evo's. I can't offer any other proof than what I do when I can't figure this stuff out. I hit ebay and see what sellers say about similar products. And according to these two sellers, similar backing plates wont work on an Evo:
I think lots of backing plates are interchangeable. The real biggest difference is the breather head bolts....we all know the EVO had much larger ones.
I recently installed a SE backing plate from a 2001 EFI onto my '98 Ultra. The Twin Cam backing plate was a better design than the old EVO SE version. It eliminated the crossover so this makes adjustments easier. I had to use the EVO breather head bolts and had to make four mounting holes in the throttle body the same. For some reason, the EVO magnetti EFI unit had different sizes.
I still use a air/oil seperator and can use either the round air filter or Twin Cam style.
