I was having to adjust the Idle on the '98 FLHTCUI....seems like I have to do it every six months. I have always noticed that there is an extra electrical plug-in just above the throttle body. Thought I might ask any other EFI owners here.....

Just wondering what it is for......
Thanks
Don't know if I've got one too but if so,I'd like to know as well. I've had to take my backing plate off to adjust my ide a few times too....now it seems too low.Funny ,I've read on here that there is no adjustment on injected models????
#1 connection for California model? those had some kind of pollution thing that caused problems if push started.
#2 idle adjust is possible and procedure is in service book and i believe still in the tech section of HDforums.
* if you live in snow/wet areas or bike sleeps outside consider checking and cleaning the connections at the CPU..corrosion develops and causes weird stuff.
Evorider, I'm not familiar with the extra plug but something to try or check that helps. The blowby oil can get excessive in the plenom and form on the intake temp sensor and causes the idle to go low, I've used some intake cleaner on the intake sensor, reset the idle and pulled the fuses and usually takes care of the lost idle but the MM is famous for losing the idle.
On a guess that plug in might have fallen out of the wiring harness and is for the carb ignition harness, it is right above the intake on the right side of the frame.
There is a plug that hangs out around there that is used on some models that have a solenoid on the air cleaner that has to do with emissioms. I don't know if that is what yours is, but chances are that is what it is.
Is it a socket, or a plug? The IAC idle air control motor is right above the throttle body. If you are missing that it would definitely effect the way that the bike idles.
you think you have extra plugs.... you should see this old police bike. I still haven't figured out half of the crap that's on this bike. If it's the little triangle plug on the right side my book says it's the Air Cleaner Solenoid connector and the left side is the VOES connector.

You want to see extra plugs, you should see the inerds of my batwing. I had to rewire the passing lites to the opposite hadlebar control switch so I got to know the wiring schematic a little better.
