Default cometic gaskets?

I will be switching to SE heads. What is that advantage to using cometic gaskets?

Hey GSXRBOY, Have you been peeking in the back windows of our shop??? We've done the Cometic/Copper Coat trick for years with the same great results. I guess I am going to have to have a talk with Kaiser our 120 lb Shepard. He is supposed to be guarding the back room. LOL

No peeking in the windows for this guy ...lol, but to be quite honest, i probably learned that trick here, and quite possibly from you, so let me say thanks to you guys who have taught younger guys like me old tricks, and continue to help and educate other bikers in repairing our beloved bikes, chad

Not sure whats better than which or how to tell. I tried the cometic metal muti layer last year when I was having problems blowing head gaskets ( which turned out to being pulled studs and I fixed them with time-serts) and also used the harley stock head gaskets also without a problem. For base gaskets I used the James metal rubber coated, these are also what the Harley dealers use on EVO rebuilds, not sure on the other bikes as I didn't ask.

Copper-coat is a brush-on or spray-on gasket sealer made by Permatex. It has copper particles in it and is a great sealer. Spray-on makes it easier to put an even coat on a gasket.
