Lifter Poll
1997, lifter life depends on cam type, valve spring pressure, operating range, and installation. For most drop-in cams we've found the Harley "B" lifters to be acceptable. For higher lift, fast ramp cams, then we like a large axle type or any of the name brand quality lifters. That being said we've also had some very expensive lifters fail because of quality control issues like an axle working its way out or a bearing failure. You are almost always safer to err on the side of caution in the long run with any engine component.
Thanks guys, keep the input coming.
While researching, Jim's/Screamin Beagles which are the same, has a bad name for short lives and failures plus adding in $300, they are out of the picture.
Vthunder, I noticed the Hy-rev, do they have stops in them?

For tappets I run S&S in my '96 FXSTSB, in my '88 FXSTC I ran the velva-touch for about 75-80k and they were still going, pushrods I have always run the Crane's because of there large size and I mate that up to S&S Roller Rocker because of the 3/4 inch bushings instead of the 1/2 inch in others or the needles in the Cranes... I don't build for speed, I build to stay riding, the cam is an EV-23 and I decided to try Screamin Eagle heads with my old Thunderheader, all the stuff I use has worked for me before... I don't wanna fix what ain't yet broke, but I do want to fix it 20 minutes before it breaks and leaves me stranded in nowhere land LOL!!!
The long winter is taking it's toll on ya
sit on the bike with it running for theropy or sit on it and make engine noises if it wont start.
